HUGO, YOUR MONITOR

My name is Hugo LE FRAPPER, I'm 35 and I've been surfing for over 25 years.
Born in Auray, I grew up a few kilometers from the wild coast of Quiberon, where I discovered the first waves and the first surfers. A deep passion for the ocean was born as a child.

At the age of 9, I received my first surfboard after two years of bodyboarding. It was a revelation.
I started out on my own on Sainte-Barbe beach in Plouharnel, observing, inspiring and dreaming, with my head buried in specialized magazines(Surfer's Journal, Surfer Mag, Surf Session, Trip Surf...). Surfing soon became much more than just a hobby.

I joined a local school, met my first surfing friends and discovered competition.
We were lucky enough to grow up without social networks, and we spent our time following our heroes and heroines on VHS and then DVD, which were the only media for broadcasting surfing films at the time!
Sometimes we'd spend whole afternoons dissecting every move - that's when I developed a real technical analysis of the discipline.
This would lead me to the national level, eventually joining the Pôle Espoir Bretagne in sport-études, where I won the French championship.

At the age of 18, I became an assistant instructor at a surf school, while studying engineering. This enabled me to finance my first trips and discover the waves of Indonesia, then the whole world.

My love of surfing pushed me to live differently: I trained as a chef to continue traveling, and spent two years in Western Australia, where I surfed world-class waves on a daily basis alongside some of the world's surfing elite.

Back in France, I'm taking my BPJEPS Surfing diploma in 2021. I then work with several surf schools in La Torche, as an independent surf instructor.

At 35, with 26 years of surfing behind me and a long list of legendary spots (Nias, G-Land, HT's, North Point, El Quemao, Teahupo'o...), I decided to open my own surf school.

I'd like to share my passion for surfing with you, and make sure you have a great time in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with the main aim of enabling you to have fun, whatever your level of surfing experience.

At Blast Surf School, you'll learn more than just the basics of surfing. You'll gain a deeper understanding of the history, culture and values that have been passed down from generation to generation, making up the ever-evolving surfing family.

WHY BLAST: MOTORCYCLE

The best surfer is the one who smiles and has fun. That's why I chose the name "Blast"for the school, which means "having a blast"!

Blast also means "storm", and my first interactions with waves took place on seaside walks, often during heavy winter storms. Wrapped up in a windbreaker, I'd spend long moments scrutinizing the ocean, which fascinated me...

Beyond that, what always fascinates me about surfing is the energy that the ocean transmits to us - whether in the water, in the middle of a session, or simply during those moments spent close to the sea, watching the waves from the beach or a corner of the cliff, with friends.

Blast is all about the energy the ocean gives us: the energy that drives us to surf, to return again and again, that clears our minds, connects us to the present moment and makes us feel good!
